There is a Saturday 5:00 PM waiver deadline for teams to waive players that have no salary protection. For example, Oklahoma City is responsible for $8,911 per day if Isaiah Canaan is not waived by 5:00 PM. The per day amount will count against the salary cap. The Canaan salary would cost an additional $23K in luxury tax penalties.

With Saturday the non-guaranteed cut deadline, likely outcome is both Semaj Christon and Isaiah Canaan are waived and OKC keeps the 15th spot open. The Thunder could always bring Christon or Canaan back later as well, but for now, keeping the 15th spot open is the expected plan.
