Marlins second-round draft pick Joe Dunand has had plenty of coaching and instruction during his path to pro baseball. That comes with the territory when you are Alex Rodriguez's nephew. In addition to soaking in advice from A-Rod, Dunand has learned from great coaches at some of the top amateur programs in the country (Gulliver Prep in Miami in high school and N.C. State in college). But there's also a hitting instructor in the Bronx who helped Dunand along the way. Jose Martinez, a youth coach in New York City, helped Dunand with his swing as a young teen and has helped countless other young players perfect their swing. Martinez, a former scout who runs The Art of Hitting program, is proud to see Dunand reach his goal of playing professionally. "I'm so happy for him," said Martinez, who has also worked with MLBer Pedro Alvarez.

David Phelps wasn't having the same sort of big year in the Marlins bullpen that he had in 2016, but his 26% K rate and his effective blend of cutters & curves will help the Mariners cover innings 6-8 to compensate for their rotation down the stretch.

Giancarlo Stanton's first-inning home run Wednesday gave him nine this month, breaking the franchise single-season record for July home runs. He now holds the franchise single-month HR records for June, July, and August while sharing the May record with Dan Uggla.

Bradford Doolittle ESPN Staff Writer

With his ninth homer in 11 games, the Marlins' Giancarlo Stanton sets the franchise record for home runs in July, per ESPN Stats & Info. Because it's only July 19 and there were four off-days for the All-Star break, Stanton has ostensibly set the record in half a month. Stanton now has 30 homers, and is on pace to hit 52 this season.
